Services

Twelve services a cannabis marketing agency runs across Lake County, IL

A border county hands you two shoppers on one budget: the one who lives on your street, and the one for whom the nearest lawful counter is on your side of a state line. Both of them find you the same way, and twelve services cover it: three that rank you where each of them looks, four that build the site and the menu they land on, three that bring them back next month, two that keep score. Each row opens its own service page, and the two plans say which of them you get.

Twenty doors and a state line: the Lake County fight in figures

Nobody in Lake County creates a cannabis buyer. Twenty licensed dispensaries divide the 718,604 people already here, and the order you do not take is one a rival did. Here is that fight in figures, and our move on each.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

The count of twenty licensed dispensaries is the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) Combined License List, the all-cannabis-licenses.pdf file updated 31 July 2026 and read on 10 September 2026: the thirty-six ZCTAs intersecting county GEOID 17097 were filtered, every candidate address was then county-assigned, and twenty distinct Lake County addresses remained. It replaces a city-sum floor that was never a county-level read, and no municipality-by-municipality split of the twenty appears anywhere here, because none was counted. Population is the US Census Bureau Population Estimates Program Vintage 2024 estimate for Lake County, Illinois, 718,604, read on 9 September 2026. Whether all twenty of those addresses are open for business was not established: the source is a license list, and no trading status was recorded for them. The twenty are licensed dispensaries and nothing more is claimed of them. Antioch and Fox Lake are named from this county's own researched city rows: the Antioch row records a border market on the Wisconsin line, Illinois-legal retail positioned to serve Wisconsin residents with no lawful in-state option, and the Fox Lake row places that village near the same line rather than on it. No cross-border sales figure is claimed, because none was recorded. Waukegan is the third city researched inside this county and nothing distinctive to it was established. New dispensary applications are paused statewide. No sales figure, no license cap and no economic development region is named for Lake County, because none was verified.

Twenty doors, and no queue left to join.

Illinois has paused new dispensary applications statewide, so the twenty licensed dispensaries counted here are the field you are in, and nothing you file changes it. It cuts both ways: nobody new can file either, so share is the only thing still moving. Share moves on the map, where a local pack returns three results however many doors exist. Putting your pin in that three, for an agreed keyword set and radius, is what we guarantee in writing.

Your northern county line is somebody else's border.

The top of Lake County is the Wisconsin line, with Antioch on it and Fox Lake near it: Illinois-legal retail positioned to serve residents who have no lawful option at home. That is a second shopper, searching from where she stands rather than from where your counter sits. So we write your keyword set to both, build your Google Business Profile and your pages to the town your door opens onto, and draw your rank grid around your own radius, not a county line no shopper can see.

718,604 residents, three positions, no second page.

A search returns three map results whoever they are, so the scarce thing here was never the counter, it was the position. Twenty doors chasing three slots means the pin you do not hold is a shopper who never reaches your menu. We work that one number for you: profile, citations, on-page and the site your tap lands on, then a monthly report of your Share of Local Voice across your grid, so you see which streets you hold and which you pay to lose.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Twenty licensed dispensaries serve Lake County's 718,604 residents while every municipality inside the line sets its own rules independently and the county's own zoning reaches only the unincorporated land between them, so the map you compete on is drawn town by town, and renting your listing, your menu, your texting and your reporting from four vendors that never speak to each other is four invoices arriving to defend a single pin.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.

The number we manage to

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

Drawing the program around your town, not the county line

The twelve services are the same in every market; what is not the same is where you draw the line around them. In Lake County each municipality sets its own rules independently and the county's zoning reaches only the unincorporated land between them, so your contest is the town your door opens onto rather than the county it files under. Your keyword set, your radius, your rank grid and the window your top-three guarantee is written to are all drawn there.

If a real share of your orders comes over the state line, bring that to the demo call: we scope the grid and the keyword set to the ground your orders actually come from, not to a boundary drawn for a census.

If you run one address.

One door in one town is one map fight, and it is winnable on its own terms. Antioch on the state line and Waukegan are not the same contest, and a shopper searching in one of them never sees your pin from the other. We write your keyword set, your landing page and your Google Business Profile to the town you actually trade in, draw the rank grid around your own radius rather than a county boundary, and report your Share of Local Voice across that grid every month, so you can see which streets you hold before you spend another dollar defending them. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If you hold several addresses across the county.

Twenty doors in a county whose towns each write their own rules means your addresses are not one campaign, they are several, and a roll-up that averages them hides the one quietly losing. We give you one SGEN domain with a location selector, a page and a Google Business Profile for every address, a citation set per address, and a report with a row per address so no door is hidden inside another's numbers. The top-three guarantee is written the same way, per address, to each one's own keyword set and radius. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

Six guides, read for the Lake County map and the line above it

Your problem in Lake County is not one map, it is two: the town you trade in, and the state line at the top of the county that decides who else has a lawful counter to walk into. Six guides read against that, what each one costs you at the till, and what we do about it under a top-three guarantee written to your keyword set and radius.

Your pack is your town's, and the one over the line belongs to another state

There is no countywide result for a shopper to see. She gets the three pins nearest to where she is standing, and on the northern edge of Lake County she may be standing in another state when she taps. That makes your primary category, your service area, your hours, your products and your answered questions worth more to you than any wider radius ever will. Profile management sits in both plans and we work it every month, so the three she sees include yours whichever side of that line she opens the map on. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

Twenty menus in this county, and only one of them can sit on a domain you own

Twenty licensed dispensaries means twenty menus a Lake County shopper can be shown, and a menu she reaches through a marketplace keeps the order, the email address and the reason she came back. What is entirely yours to change is what happens after the tap: your own pages, your menu wired into your POS, and a load time that does not lose her before the cart. Both plans carry that build, and every pin you hold sends its tap to it rather than to somebody else's checkout. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

The buyer who already chose you cannot be outranked

In a county where the application queue is closed to newcomers and the buyer count is held by the people living in it, the shopper who has already bought from you is the one asset nobody can rank away. She is on your list rather than on a map, and reaching her costs you nothing per send that a rival can bid up. We build that list off your POS, segment it by what she actually buys, and send against a calendar rather than a whim, so your quietest week has a reason to move. See the guide: the dispensary email marketing playbook.

The channel that still reaches her once she is back over the line

If she crossed a state line to reach a lawful counter, she will not see your sign on the way home and she will not run the search twice. A text lands on the phone she is already holding, which is why the sender matters more than the wording: a platform that will not carry cannabis traffic can drop you mid-list, and a consent trail kept loosely can cost you the channel outright. We put you on one that carries it, wire it to your POS so the message follows what she actually bought, and keep that trail clean, so the list you build is a list you keep. See the guide: cannabis-friendly SMS platforms.

When the queue is closed to newcomers, the only growth left is somebody else's shopper

Illinois is not taking new applications, so the twenty dispensaries here are dividing a fixed pool rather than growing one, and the tactics that work in a market still expanding are the wrong ones to copy into this one. What moves share in a closed field is unglamorous: the phrases your shoppers really type, the hours and products on your profile being right, a reason to come back this month, and a report that tells you which of those paid. We run all four for you on one contract and show you what each returned. See the guide: dispensary marketing ideas.

Three positions, twenty doors, and arithmetic that never softens

A local pack shows three results and Lake County holds twenty licensed dispensaries, so most of them are invisible on any given search and it is not a close-run thing. Rank work is the one line on your budget that does not get dearer when a rival spends more, because the position you hold is not for sale to him at any price. We audit what you rank for now, fix the profile and the pages behind it, build the citations, and hand you a rank grid every month, so the argument about whether it is working has a number in it. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

Do you have an office in Lake County?

No, and you do not need one on your street to move your pin. We keep offices in other markets and every client we run is served by the same team. What moves a Lake County ranking is the work on your Google Business Profile, your citations, your pages and the report that follows them, none of which needs anyone standing in your dispensary. What it does need is your address, your radius and your keyword set, and that is what we scope with you on the demo call, alongside the guarantee terms.

We are in Antioch, not Waukegan. Does the campaign change?

Yes. Illinois lets each municipality set its own rules independently, and the county's zoning reaches only the unincorporated land between them, so the field around an Antioch door and the field around a Waukegan door are not the same field. We write your keyword set, your landing page and your profile to the town you actually trade in, and draw the rank grid around its radius. A campaign scoped to the county line would be reporting a map none of your shoppers ever see.

A lot of our traffic comes over the state line. Does local search still do anything?

It does more, not less. Someone searching from the far side of that line is searching from where she stands, so what decides whether she sees you is your profile, your categories and your service area rather than which town your paperwork says you are in. We build for the search she actually runs and draw your rank grid over the ground your orders come from instead of over a county boundary, so your monthly report answers the question you are really asking: are we visible where the money is.

Illinois has paused new applications. Does that make marketing less urgent?

The opposite. When nobody new can be admitted, share is the only thing that moves, and every point of it comes out of a rival's till rather than out of growth. The twenty dispensaries in this county are working one fixed pool of buyers, and the three map positions each search hands out are the bottleneck they all queue at. We work that bottleneck for you: profile, citations, pages, and the site your tap lands on, then report your Share of Local Voice monthly so you can watch the share move.

How long until we are in the top three?

We commit to a window, not a date. It moves with your profile's history, the radius you trade in, and how many of this county's twenty licensed dispensaries sit inside that radius. The window is written into the agreement your top-three guarantee hangs on, and we scope both to your own address on the demo call, before you sign anything.
