Services

The twelve services behind a cannabis marketing agency in Minnesota

The buyers here grow by census increments while the doors serving them grow by licensing rounds, so the store that gets found first and remembered longest is the one that holds its share. These twelve do both jobs for yours: three to rank it, four to build it, three to keep its shopper coming back, two to run the numbers, all on one contract, and the plans below show which modules each carries.

Minnesota's 5,793,151 residents are the pool every dispensary here sells into, and no campaign adds one to it, while the statute turns every 12,500 more of them into room for another door. So your next sale has to come out of a rival's till. The map decides whose, and the map is what we work for you.

The Minnesota fight, by the numbers: one pool, a door count that only climbs

Nobody in Minnesota is making new cannabis buyers for you. The pool is 5,793,151 residents and its best month so far put about $22 million across the counters serving them, so a shopper who walks into a rival is one who did not walk into yours. Here is the size of that fight, and our move on each figure.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

Population figures are the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimates (POPESTIMATE2024) for the state and for each county named, read on 9 September 2026; a newer Vintage 2025 estimate puts the state at 5,830,405, so the resident count is still rising. The no-ban rule and the floor of one retail registration per 12,500 residents are Minn. Stat. 342.13, read on 9 September 2026; the advertising restrictions are Minn. Stat. 342.64, read on 7 September 2026. Every registration figure named for a county here is arithmetic on that statutory floor and on that county's own population, not a count of shops trading, and a county that already meets the floor relieves its cities of the duty to allow more. The $22 million is the record month for combined medical and adult-use sales reported by mid-2026, taken from a search summary rather than read from the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM). No Minnesota storefront count appears anywhere on this page: the OCM license registry was not read, and the counts in circulation conflict with one another.

One pool, a door count pegged to it.

Those 5,793,151 residents are the whole market, and no campaign you buy adds one to it. What the law adds instead is competitors: no city or county may shut cannabis retail out, and each must allow at least one retail registration per 12,500 residents. So your share is under attack from doors that are not open yet, while the pack still shows three pins. Putting yours among that three, for an agreed keyword set and radius, is what we guarantee.

Two desks decide who opens next to you.

You need a state license to trade and a local registration to open the door, and here the county is a permitting desk of its own: a county that meets its floor relieves its cities of the duty to issue more. So your rival count is set at counters you do not sit at. We count the doors that rank against you inside your radius on the demo call, then scope your keyword set, rank grid and report to it.

Off tribal land, the habits are a year old.

Non-tribal shops only opened in 2025, and tribal dispensaries were trading before them, so in some Minnesota markets your shopper already has a regular and in the rest she is still choosing one. Whoever she finds first this year is the one she stops searching for next year. We work both ends for you: the pages and profile that win her search now, the email, SMS and loyalty that bring her back after.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Minnesota is one of the few states where your rival count can only go up, because no city or county here may shut cannabis retail out or opt out and the statute turns every 12,500 residents into room for another registration, so renting the map, the menu and the list from four vendors who do not talk to each other is the most expensive way there is to fight that.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.

The number we manage to

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

Local search rank grid, before and after: red rank 20 plus pins on the left, green rank 1 pins on the right.

Fitting the program to your Minnesota map

The twelve services above are the same in every market; what changes for you here is the scope, and in Minnesota the scope is never the state. Your keyword set, your radius and your monthly report are drawn around the trade area you actually pull from, and your written top-three guarantee is scoped to that same keyword set and radius.

If you deliver as well, bring that side of the business to the demo call, where the service-area grid is drawn to the routes you actually run rather than to a statewide figure.

If you run one store.

Your city cannot close the category to keep a rival out, and it must keep at least one retail registration available per 12,500 residents, so the room for the next door near you is set by arithmetic rather than by a council's mood. That makes today's position the thing worth defending: your own keyword set, Google Business Profile and rank grid across the radius your shoppers come from, with Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. We show you a new door in the grid the month it starts ranking, rather than the quarter your till tells you. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If you run several.

Each of your shops sits under its own local registration and its own county floor, and the map splits the same way: a St. Paul shopper never sees a Rochester pin. The arithmetic is public, so you can check your own field — Ramsey County's 542,015 residents oblige at least 43 retail registrations and Dakota County's 453,156 at least 36, while a city inside a county that already meets its floor is not obliged to allow more, so the door count around each of your shops is a different number. We run one SGEN domain with a store selector, a page and a profile for each of yours, and a roll-up report with a row per location, so the one quietly losing ground is never averaged into the one that is winning. The guarantee is written the same way: per location, per keyword set, per radius. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

The guides, read for a Minnesota store in a market that keeps adding doors

You cannot slow the door count here, so the question is what you own that a new rival cannot take off you. Six answers, each taking one guide's method and hanging it on a Minnesota fact, each ending in what it costs you and what we do about it. The written top-three guarantee runs through all of them, scoped to an agreed keyword set and radius, and every guide is linked if you want the method before the call.

Three positions, however many doors open

The number of licensed doors in your town rises with the census; the number of positions in the local pack is three, and it never rises. That is the asymmetry worth buying: every registration a council issues divides the same pool of shoppers, and none of them adds a slot to the map. Holding one of those three is won on profile completeness, on-page work and citations, and it costs you the same whether ten rivals open near you this year or none. Dispensary SEO is how we take that position for you, and the order of the work is fixed, which is why it is the first thing we start. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

The pin that catches a shopper the week a new door opens

When a rival opens near you here, your shopper gets no memo; she searches, sees three pins and taps one. Whether yours is among them turns on things you control: the categories on your Google Business Profile, the hours, the products listed, the photographs, the posts, the questions answered, and the address consistency across your citation set. Left alone a profile decays quietly, and you notice when the till does. We keep yours complete and report your Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" point by point across your radius, so a new rival's arrival shows up in the grid rather than in your takings. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

In a market this new, the habits are still up for grabs

Buying at a non-tribal shop only started here in 2025, so a large share of your customers have not settled on a regular yet, which cuts both ways: yours is not safe either. The shops that win the next two years are the ones that give a first visit a reason to become a second, through a points or tier structure wired into your POS with the email and SMS that keep it warm. A rival can outrank you next month; he cannot rank away a relationship you already own. That retention layer is what separates our two plans, and we build it for you on the same contract as the ranking work. See the guide: the dispensary loyalty program guide.

Read the audience rule as a buying spec

Minnesota keeps you off any medium where 30% or more of the audience is expected to be under 21, wants a health warning on every ad, and holds you to two fixed exterior signs. As a rule that is a nuisance; as a buying spec it tells you what you may buy before you spend a dollar finding out the expensive way, and it prices most of the loud options out of your plan. It also says where the money goes instead: the map, your own site and the list you own, none of them audience-gated, though direct messages need age verification, which is how we build yours. That is what we run for you, on one contract. See the guide: dispensary advertising rules by state.

Four invoices, against a rival count that keeps rising

A marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer bill you the same every month whether your share is climbing or being split three more ways, and none of the four talks to the others. In a state where the door count is set to rise, that flat rent is the first line worth looking at, because it buys you no defense at all when the next registration lands in your town. What each rented piece costs, from dated third-party sources, is in the guide. Both of our plans put the site, the ranking work and the reporting on one contract, with the web build included and no separate build fee. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.

The site has to sell a first visit, not only a repeat one

A shopper new to buying legally arrives with different questions from a ten-year veteran: what is in stock now, what will it do to her, and what it costs at the counter nearest her. A menu-connected site answers those on the page she lands on, in the language she typed, instead of bouncing her into a marketplace where your rivals are one tap away and she becomes theirs. That is a design job rather than a copy job, and it is the lever that lifts every other channel you pay for. We build it as part of the same contract as the ranking work, so there is no separate web build for you to budget. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

No town in Minnesota can ban a dispensary. Does that help me or hurt me?

It hurts you unless you are winning the map. In an opt-in state a town's refusal keeps rivals away for you; here nothing does, and every city and county must keep at least one retail registration available per 12,500 residents as it grows. So your defense is not the council, it is the position: your keyword set, your rank grid and your Google Business Profile, worked every month, with a written top-three local ranking guarantee scoped to that keyword set and radius. Terms apply.

How many dispensaries am I actually up against?

Fewer than any statewide number suggests, and the statewide numbers themselves disagree with one another, so we print none of them. What matters to you is smaller and knowable: the shops that rank inside your own radius, because a shopper in Duluth never sees a Minneapolis pin. We draw that grid for your trade area on the demo call and count them with you, and the guarantee is written to that grid rather than to the state.

Non-tribal retail only opened in 2025. Is it too early to spend on this?

It is the opposite of too early. Habits are being set right now, and the shop a buyer finds in her first year is usually the one she stops searching for in her second. Waiting means paying later to unseat somebody who has already become the default, which costs more than being the default did. The work that decides it, the profile, the pages, the menu and the list, takes months to compound, so the cheapest month to start is the earliest one you can.

We hold a state license and a local registration. Does that change the program?

Not the work, only the scope. Your local registration says where you may trade, and your trade area rarely matches a city line, so we scope your keyword set and radius to where your shoppers actually come from and report the grid point by point every month. Add a second location under another local registration and it gets its own page, its own profile and its own row in the report, rather than being averaged into the first.

There are Minnesota agencies selling cannabis marketing. Why Dispenza?

Because the offer differs, not the vertical. Every site we build runs on SGEN, which we own, so the team hosting your site is the team running your campaign, on one contract instead of four. The ranking work carries a written top-three guarantee for an agreed keyword set, radius and window, which you are welcome to ask any other agency to match before you choose. Terms apply.
