Services

Twelve services from one cannabis marketing agency in Iowa

Five doors, one register of patients, and no adult-use counter arriving to enlarge it: what is left to compete on is being found first and being remembered longest. These twelve services do both for your dispensary, three to rank it, four to build it, three to bring its patients back, two to prove what moved, all on one contract, and the plans below show which modules each carries.

The Iowa fight, by the numbers: five doors, one register

Nobody in Iowa is making new cannabis demand: the buyers are registered patients, that register is the whole pool, and five licensed dispensaries divide it. So a sale you add this year is a visit another dispensary was expecting. Here is the size of that fight, and our move on each number.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

The five-dispensary count, the four towns that hold them, the two-manufacturer structure and the five-locations-per-manufacturer ceiling are the Office of Medical Cannabidiol, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services' own dispensary and manufacturer listings, read on 9 September 2026; population is the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimate; its newer Vintage 2025 estimate puts the state at 3,238,387. Iowa publishes no dispensary sales figure and no patient count that could be verified for this market, so neither appears, and which town holds which door is not broken out here because no door-by-door split could be verified. A reported 2026 change to the permitted dispensary number is not carried here either, because it has not been checked against the Iowa Legislature's own record.

Five doors, one pool of patients.

Iowa's medical cannabidiol program lists five licensed dispensaries for 3,241,488 residents, and the patients registered to use them are the whole market. That pool does not widen when somebody advertises harder; it moves. So what decides your month is which dispensary a searching patient sees first, and the three positions in the local pack settle it. Putting your pin in that three, for an agreed keyword set and radius, is what we guarantee.

Two license-holders, no city hall to argue with.

Siting is settled at state level rather than at a council meeting: two manufacturers hold the licenses, and each may run up to five dispensary locations. No zoning row widens your market and none protects it, which leaves the search result as the ground you can still take, and your catchment on it is a slice of a whole state. So we work it whole: the keyword set your patients type, a complete Google Business Profile, citations that agree, and a rank grid reported to you point by point.

Four towns hold the doors. The map is drawn elsewhere.

The five doors sit in four Iowa towns, so the counter you lose a patient to is usually nowhere near you. Your competition is rarely down the street; it is whichever pin the pack returns to a patient searching from the far edge of your catchment. So we draw the grid over the ground your patients come from, rank it point by point, and report the movement to you monthly rather than as one flat number.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Iowa's five licensed dispensaries are held between two manufacturers and scattered across a state of 3,241,488 residents, so your nearest rival is almost never next door but on the same result page, and renting four disconnected vendors to fight for that page is the expensive way to fight for it.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.

The number we manage to

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

Scoping the program to your Iowa dispensary

The twelve services above are the same in every market; what changes for you in Iowa is the scope, and here the scope is a catchment rather than a city. Your keyword set, your radius, your pin count and the shape of your monthly report are written to the ground your patients travel from, and the top-three guarantee is written to that same scope.

We write no delivery block for Iowa, because nothing in the program record we work from tells us what a delivery operation here is permitted to look like. If you deliver to patients, bring that to the demo call and we scope the service-area grid to it there.

If you run one of the five.

A dispensary at one end of Iowa and one at the other are not fighting over the same patient on the same screen, because the pack is drawn around whoever is searching and not around the state. So the work is scoped to your own catchment: your keyword set, your Google Business Profile, your citations, and a rank grid across the area your patients come from, with Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. Where five doors serve a whole state, a rank you hold is a share you keep, and we write the report to show you exactly that instead of burying it in a flat sales line. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If you run several of them.

Iowa's structure makes several locations the normal shape here: each manufacturer may run up to five dispensary locations, so you can be trading in more than one town under a single name. What we run mirrors that shape, one SGEN domain with a location selector, one page and one Google Business Profile per dispensary, one citation set per address, and a roll-up report carrying a row per location, so a counter of yours that is holding its share and one that is quietly slipping are never averaged into the same line. The guarantee is written the same way, per location, per keyword set, per radius, never one number for the group. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

The guides, read for one of Iowa's five dispensaries

Five licensed dispensaries and no adult-use channel to grow into change what you should be paying for, and these six guides answer that, each hung on one Iowa fact and each ending in what it costs you and what we do about it. The guarantee stays what it is throughout: top three, written to an agreed keyword set and radius. The guide itself is linked if you want the method before the call.

With five doors open, the profile is the storefront

A patient who wants one of your products is rarely choosing between shops on the same street here; she is searching, and the pack she gets back is drawn around where she is rather than around where you are. That makes your Google Business Profile the shopfront that decides it: the hours, the photographs, the questions answered, the posts that prove you are still trading, all of it read before anybody sets off. Getting yours complete, accurate and posted to every month sits inside both of our plans, and in a state with five doors open it is where we start with you. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

Your catchment is a share of a state, not a few blocks

Your trade area here is not a few blocks; it is a share of a whole state, because five dispensaries cover 3,241,488 people. The patient at the edge of that area is the one you lose without ever hearing about it: she searched, three pins came back, and none of them was yours. Those three positions are won on profile completeness, on-page work and citations, and they cost the same to hold in a thin market as in a crowded one. Dispensary SEO is how we take one of them for you, and the order the work is done in is fixed, because out of order wastes your year. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

No adult-use counter is coming, so the patient you keep is the growth

Where your buyers are registered patients and no adult-use counter is opening to add more, growth comes from the same people twice: the patient who bought once and came back, and the one who let a card lapse and renewed it. That is retention, and with five dispensaries in the state it is worth more than it looks, because a shopper you lose is not replaced by passing trade next week. A points or tier structure wired into your POS, with the email and SMS that keep it warm, is the one asset a rival cannot rank away from you. That layer is what separates our two plans. See the guide: the dispensary loyalty program guide.

No advertising code of Iowa's own, which is not the same as a clear run

Iowa's program sits with the health department rather than with a cannabis board, and no cannabis advertising code of Iowa's own turned up in the state's published record as it stood on 9 September 2026. That is not permission to spend anywhere: the ad platforms write their own cannabis policies, and yours is the account that gets refused or pulled while you are still guessing which line you crossed. The money is safer on surfaces nobody else can switch off on you, the map, your own site and the list you own, and those three are what we run for you on one contract. See the guide: dispensary advertising rules by state.

The site has to answer what a cardholder actually asks

Your buyer is a registered patient rather than a passer-by, so she arrives with questions a recreational shopper never asks: what is in the product, what it costs, whether her card is current, and whether you have it on the shelf today. A page disconnected from your menu answers none of that, and she rings somebody instead of ordering from you. We build yours on SGEN, which we own, so the team hosting your site is the team running your campaign, and the build sits inside the contract rather than beside it. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

Four invoices against a market that cannot be grown into

Count what you rent: a marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer, four bills that arrive whether your month was good or poor, none of them talking to the others. Where the register of patients is the whole market, that rent is the number you cannot outgrow, because no second wave of shoppers is arriving to spread it across. What each rented piece actually costs, from dated third-party sources, is set out for you in the guide. Both of our plans fold the site, the ranking work and the reporting into one contract, with the web build included and no separate build fee. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

Iowa has five dispensaries. Is a specialist agency overkill for a market this small?

The size of the state does not change the size of your job. With five doors open, every patient who searches and does not find you is money that went to one of the other four or to nothing at all, and you have no second location and no seasonal rival collapse to carry a poor month. You get the same twelve services on the same one contract as a dispensary in a market of hundreds, scoped down to your catchment instead of billed up for it. We would rather show you that on a demo call than argue it in writing.

Which Iowa markets do you work?

All of them, and the list is short: five licensed dispensaries, sitting in four Iowa towns. Whichever one is yours, the work is scoped to the catchment your patients travel from rather than to the state line, and the rank grid is drawn over that ground. Bring your address to the call and we draw it around you there.

We sell low-THC medical cannabidiol, not adult-use cannabis. Does dispensary marketing still apply?

It applies harder, because your buyer has to be found rather than passed. A registered patient checks hours, stock, prices and whether her card still works before she goes anywhere, and those answers live in the same three places for you as for any dispensary: the local pack, your own site and menu, and the list you own. We run all three on one contract. What changes is the vocabulary on your pages, which is part of the keyword work rather than an extra line on the invoice.

There is no adult-use market here. Where is growth supposed to come from?

Two places only, which is why we measure both. The first is share: five dispensaries divide the same register of patients, so a patient who finds you first is one who did not go elsewhere. The second is retention: the patient who came back this month, and the one who renewed a lapsed card because your email reached her at the right time. Loyalty, email and SMS do the second job, ranking does the first, and the monthly report tells you which of the two actually moved.

What does the top-three guarantee cover for an Iowa dispensary?

A written top-three local ranking guarantee, scoped in the agreement to a keyword set, a radius and a window we agree with you before you sign, and reported against a rank grid drawn over your own catchment rather than over the state. It is a ranking commitment and nothing else: we do not promise you a sales number, and any agency that does is selling you something it cannot control. Terms apply, and we walk you through them on the demo call.

Book a demo

Book straight into the calendar. Bring your store count and your address; you leave the call with a quote scoped to your locations and the guarantee terms to read before you sign.

More markets

The same program, market by market

Every market page is written to its own store count and its own map, and the guarantee is written to yours.

Where the doors are, by medical cannabis dispensaries (regulator labels each record "Medical Cannabis Dispensary"): Council Bluffs 1, Iowa City 1, Sioux City 1, Waterloo 1, Windsor Heights 1. Every number here is counted from Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Bureau of Cannabis Regulation (BCR) - Medical Cannabis Dispensary Locations, read 2026-09-10. If your city is on that list, the fight for its map is already running.
