The pool of buyers here is fixed and no state cap limits how many doors divide it, so the store that gets found first and remembered longest is the one that holds its share. These twelve do both jobs for yours: three to rank it, four to build it, three to keep its shopper coming back, two to run the numbers, all on one contract, and the plans below show which modules each carries.

Nobody in Michigan is making new cannabis buyers for you. Adult-use tills take roughly $255 million a month and the holders of 831 active adult-use retailer licenses divide it, so a shopper who walks into a rival is one who did not walk into yours. Here is that fight in figures, and our move on each.
Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.
The retailer figure is the Cannabis Regulatory Agency's count of active adult-use retailer licenses at 31 March 2026, and the monthly figures are the same agency's adult-use sales for March to June 2026; both are read through trade reporting of that agency's monthly statistical report, because the agency's own files did not return to an automated read on 9 September 2026. The $54,017.10 per-store payment, the nearly $94 million total and the 313 recipient communities are the state's fiscal 2025 Marijuana Regulation Fund distribution. Population is the US Census Bureau's most recent state estimate. No town, city or county store count appears here, because the Michigan Treasury's fiscal 2025 distribution table, which carries them, did not return to an automated read either. The share of municipalities that never opted in is an approximate figure from a search summary rather than a line-by-line read of a municipal list. All were read on 9 September 2026.
831 retailer licenses. A pool that stopped growing.
Michigan's adult-use stores rang up $255,064,160.51 in March 2026 and $252.80 million in June, flat and drifting down. Divided between the holders of 831 active adult-use retailer licenses, that is a pool nobody is adding to: your only growth is growth taken off a competitor. It changes hands when a shopper searches, sees three pins in the pack and taps one. Putting yours among that three, for an agreed keyword set and radius, is what we guarantee.
Three in four towns never opened the door.
Retail exists here only where a municipality passed an ordinance allowing it, and roughly 74% never did. So your trade area is not a circle of towns but the handful that said yes, and your rivals are packed into the same short list of addresses. Which of you those drivers see first is settled in the local pack. We build your keyword set and rank grid around the towns they drive from, and write your top-three guarantee to that grid.
Your town's cannabis cheque counts your rivals.
For fiscal 2025 the state paid every municipality and county exactly $54,017.10 for each licensed retail store or microbusiness inside its borders, and nearly $94 million went to 313 recipients. So your rival count is public arithmetic, not guesswork: take your council's published payment and divide. That local number, not the statewide one, is the field you actually fight in. We run that division for your catchment on the demo call, then scope your keyword set, rank grid and monthly report to it.
Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.
Michigan sets no statewide cap on adult-use retailers, so its 831 active adult-use retailer licenses are packed into the minority of municipalities that voted to allow them, which is why your rivals are not spread thinly across a big state but stacked into the same few towns as you, and renting the map, the menu and the list from four vendors who do not talk to each other is the dearest way there is to fight them.
You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.
Your stack is rented from four vendors.
A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.
Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.
The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.
Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.
A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.
Four invoices, four account managers.
Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.
Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.
Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.
New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.
Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.
The twelve services above do not change from market to market; what changes for you is the scope, and in Michigan the scope is drawn by a township, a village or a city line, never by the state line. Your keyword set, your radius, your pin count and the report we write you are built around the towns your shoppers drive in from, and your written top-three guarantee is scoped to that same keyword set and radius.
If you deliver as well, bring that side of the business to the demo call; the service-area grid is drawn to the routes you actually run, not to any statewide figure.
If you run one store.
Your ordinance is written by your own town, and the caps and buffers one township applies are not the ones the city next door applies, so the field you compete in is drawn around your address rather than around Michigan. We work that field and nothing else: your own keyword set, your Google Business Profile, your citations, and a rank grid across the radius your shoppers drive in from, with Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. When the pool is flat and no state cap limits how many doors divide it, a rank that holds is share you took, and your report is built to show that rather than bury it in a flat sales line. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.
If you run several.
Every location you run here sits under a different council's ordinance, and in Michigan the licensing unit can be a township or a village and not only a city, so your city-limits store and your township store are never in the same pack. The program mirrors that shape: one SGEN domain with a store selector, a page and a Google Business Profile per location, a citation set per address, and a roll-up report with a row per location, so the one holding share and the one quietly losing it never average into a single line. Your guarantee is written the same way, per location, per keyword set, per radius. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.
You cannot buy your way out of a flat market, so the question is where the money goes instead. Six Michigan numbers, what each one costs you, and our move on it. The written top-three guarantee runs through all of them, scoped to an agreed keyword set and radius, and every guide is linked if you want the method before the call.
Four invoices against a till that stopped growing
Michigan's adult-use counters took $255.06 million in March 2026 and $252.80 million in June, and the roughly 10.1 million residents behind those tills are not multiplying. Your costs do not follow that line: a marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer bill you the same in a flat month as in a growing one, so the cost of renting a stack climbs as a share of what you take. What each rented piece costs, from dated third-party sources, is in the guide. Our two plans put the site, the ranking work and the reporting on one contract, with the build included and no separate build fee. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.
No cap on doors, so the position is the scarce thing
Michigan sets no statewide limit on adult-use retailer licenses; the only brake is the town's own ordinance, and a town that opted in may cap its shops or may not. So the number of rivals inside your radius can rise while the local pack still shows three. That makes the position, not the license, the scarce asset, and it is the one input that does not get dearer as the field fills: it is won on profile completeness, on-page work and citations. Dispensary SEO is how we take that position for you, in a fixed order of operations, and it is the first thing we start. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.
The pin that catches the shopper driving in
Roughly three in four Michigan municipalities never allowed a shop to open, and the people who live in them and buy have to drive to a town that did. What they do on the way is search, and the three pins they are shown decide which town gets the visit and which counter gets the basket. That is a profile fight rather than a price fight: hours, categories, products, photos, posts and questions answered, all kept current, all pointed at the phrases those drivers type. We run your Google Business Profile as part of the ranking work and report its Share of Local Voice point by point, so you can see the catchment you are winning. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.
Read the audience rule as a buying spec
Michigan lets you place TV, radio, internet and print advertising only where no more than 30% of the audience is expected to be under 21, and every placement has to carry the prescribed warnings and stay clear of health claims. Read as a restriction, that is a headache; read as a buying spec, it tells you which inventory you can buy before you spend anything finding out the hard way. It also tells you where the rest of the budget goes: the map, your own site and the list you own, none of which carries an audience test, and all of which we run for you on one contract. See the guide: dispensary advertising rules by state.
A habit is the one asset a rival cannot outrank
Michigan has taken more than $15.7 billion at cannabis counters all told, which means the shopper you want is not a first-timer working out what to try; she has a favorite, a routine and a counter she defaults to. She leaves that default for two reasons only: she searched and somebody else came up first, or somebody else gave her a reason to come back and you did not. A points or tier structure wired into your POS, with the email and SMS that keep it warm, is the one thing a competitor cannot rank away from you, because it is a relationship rather than a position. That retention layer is what separates our two plans. See the guide: the dispensary loyalty program guide.
When the till is flat, the cheapest sale is the second one
Statewide takings hovered around a quarter of a billion dollars a month through the first half of 2026 and finished June lower than they started March, while no state cap limits how many doors divide them. That is pressure arriving as a smaller share for you rather than as fewer buyers in Michigan, and the shopper who already bought from you is the cheapest one left to sell: getting her back next week costs a message. That is what the list you own is for, and it is the one channel no rival can bid you out of. We write, segment and send it for you inside the same contract as the ranking work, and the monthly report puts orders against each send. See the guide: the dispensary email marketing playbook.

Do you guarantee rankings?
A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.
Which platform are the sites built on?
Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.
What does it cost?
Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.
Most towns around me never opted in. Does that help me or hurt me?
Both, and the split is the point. Roughly three in four Michigan municipalities have never allowed a shop to open, so the buyers living in them drive to the towns that did, which brings you traffic you never had to create and puts every rival you have on the same short list of addresses. The fight is therefore settled in the local pack those drivers see on the way, not in your window. We scope your keyword set and your rank grid to the catchment they actually drive from, and the top-three guarantee is written to that grid.
How many dispensaries am I actually competing with?
Far fewer than the statewide number, and you can count them almost exactly. Michigan carried 831 active adult-use retailer licenses at the end of March 2026, but no shopper is ever shown all of them, because the pack is drawn around the person searching. Closer to home, every municipality and county was paid $54,017.10 for each licensed retail store or microbusiness inside its borders for fiscal 2025, so a council's published payment divided by that figure gives the number of licensed doors it hosts. We do that arithmetic for your towns before the demo call and draw the rank grid around the answer.
Sales are flat and the field keeps filling. Is marketing still worth it here?
It depends what you are buying. Growth is not on sale in Michigan: monthly adult-use takings ran around $255 million through the first half of the year, and with no statewide cap the number of doors dividing them can keep rising, so nobody is being carried by the category any more. Share is what is left to buy, and it changes hands in the three pins a shopper is shown, one search at a time. If your rank holds while the till stays flat, the sales you add are sales that used to be somebody else's, and that is what we report to you, point by point, every month.
We hold a medical license as well as an adult-use one. Does that change the program?
It changes the pages and the list, not the ranking work. Michigan runs a medical program alongside adult-use and plenty of retailers carry both, so your site needs a patient path answering different questions from the adult-use path, and your email and SMS have to speak to two groups without treating them as one. We build both paths into the site we host on SGEN, segment your list accordingly, and keep the ranking work pointed at the phrases each group actually types. Bring your license mix to the demo call and we will scope it there.
There are Michigan-based agencies selling cannabis marketing. Why Dispenza?
Because the offer is different, not the vertical. Every site we build runs on SGEN, which we own, so the team hosting your site is the team running your campaign, on one contract instead of four invoices from four vendors. The ranking work carries a written top-three local ranking guarantee for an agreed keyword set, radius and window, which you are welcome to ask any other agency to match before you choose. Terms apply, and we walk you through them on the demo call before you sign.
Book straight into the calendar. Bring your store count and your address; you leave the call with a quote scoped to your locations and the guarantee terms to read before you sign.
More markets
Every market page is written to its own store count and its own map, and the guarantee is written to yours.
Where the doors are, by licensed marihuana retail locations - distinct street addresses holding an active CRA retail-capable licence (adult-use marihuana retailer, marihuana microbusiness, Class A marihuana microbusiness, tribal marihuana retailer, or medical provisioning centre), counted once per address so a store holding both an adult-use and a medical licence counts once. "Marihuana" is the regulator's own spelling. Places are the city string the register itself records in its Address field, which is a USPS mailing city: for several markets it covers the city and the surrounding township together (see method).: Detroit 60, New Buffalo 39, Grand Rapids 27, Lansing 25, Ann Arbor 24, Kalamazoo 20, Muskegon 19, Battle Creek 18, Flint 18, Monroe 16, Jackson 14, Adrian 13, Bay City 13, Coldwater 13, Saginaw 13, Burton 10, Mount Pleasant 10, Traverse City 10, Hazel Park 9, Inkster 9, Ypsilanti 9, Menominee 8, Portage 8, Big Rapids 7 and 210 more. Every number here is counted from Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA), "Verify a License" register (Accela Citizen Access, aca-prod.accela.com/MIMM) - Adult_Use and Licenses (medical) modules, read 2026-09-10. If your city is on that list, the fight for its map is already running.
