The twelve services a cannabis marketing agency in Utah owes you

With fifteen counters serving the state and no sixteenth on the way, the pharmacy that gets found first and remembered longest takes the share. These twelve do both jobs for yours: three to rank it, four to build the site and the brand, three to bring your buyer back, two to run the numbers. One contract, and the plans below show which modules each carries.

The Utah fight, by the numbers: fifteen doors, three pins

Nobody in Utah is creating new cannabis buyers, and the pharmacy count is held at fifteen, so no sixteenth door is coming. Every sale you add came off another counter. Here is the size of that fight, and our move on each figure.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

The pharmacy count and the towns it sits in are the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Medical Cannabis pharmacy-locations page, read on 9 September 2026, which lists fifteen; the state population figure is the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimate. The fifteen-license ceiling is corroborated from secondary sources and the statute text was not read this run, so the figure is given as the number the published list holds at, not as a quotation of the law. No sales figure and no cardholder count appear here, because neither could be verified against a regulator publication on that date, and Utah's advertising rules were not verified either, so nothing here rests on them.

Fifteen doors, and the list is full.

The Center for Medical Cannabis lists fifteen medical cannabis pharmacies for the whole state, and no sixteenth can open unless the cap changes, so your rivals this year are your rivals next year. Nobody can out-open you and you cannot out-open anyone, so one thing moves: which three pins a buyer sees when she searches. If yours is not one of them, the tap goes to a counter that is. Putting your pin in that three, for a keyword set and radius we agree in writing, is what we guarantee.

Fourteen towns, and only one holds two.

Salt Lake City is the only town on the list that holds two; the other thirteen counters sit one apiece in South Jordan, Murray, West Bountiful, Lehi, Springville, Provo, Brigham City, St. George, Park City, Price, North Logan, South Ogden and Cedar City. A Provo buyer never sees a Cedar City pin, because the pack is drawn around whoever is searching. Your Google Business Profile, your pages and your citations are what we work every month to make yours the pin she taps.

3,503,613 residents. Fifteen counters.

Utah dispenses through pharmacies with a pharmacist on site rather than shops, and fifteen serve 3,503,613 residents, so your catchment runs well past your own town and overlaps rivals you never see. That buyer is choosing between you and them inside a search result. Your keyword set, your rank grid and a monthly Share of Local Voice report scoped to the trade area you draw from are what we sell, and the guarantee is written to that grid, never to the state line.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Utah's fifteen pharmacies sit in fourteen towns across a state of 3,503,613 residents, with Salt Lake City the only town holding two of them, so which counter a buyer walks up to is decided by whose pin she finds when she searches, and renting that pin from four vendors who never speak to each other is the expensive way to win her.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.

The number we manage to

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

+45.59% 6mo INCREASE IN SOLV FOR "DISPENSARY NEAR ME"
Local search rank grid, before and after: red rank 20 plus pins on the left, green rank 1 pins on the right.

Scoping the program to your Utah counter

The twelve services above do not change from market to market; what changes for you is the scope, and in Utah the scope is never the state. Your keyword set, your radius, your pin count and the shape of the monthly report we write are drawn to the towns your buyers really come from, and the top-three guarantee is scoped to that grid and nothing wider.

If your license covers home delivery, bring it to the demo call: no Utah delivery rule has been verified to the regulator, so we scope a service-area grid to your own license there rather than to a statewide count.

If you run one pharmacy.

Thirteen of the fourteen towns on Utah's pharmacy list hold a single counter, so your competition is rarely the shop across the road — it is whoever the map decides to show a buyer willing to look further. We scope the work to the map your door actually sits on: its own keyword set, its own Google Business Profile, its own rank grid across the radius your buyers come from, with Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. In a field that cannot grow, a position you take is a position no new door can take back, and the report is built to show you where you hold it and where a rival is quietly gaining. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If you run more than one.

The fifteen sit in fourteen towns, so two of your doors are rarely in the same pack: a Salt Lake City pin and a St. George pin answer different sets of searches entirely. The program mirrors that shape — one SGEN domain with a store selector, one page and one Google Business Profile per address, one citation set per address, and a roll-up report with a row per door, so a counter holding its share and one quietly losing it are never averaged into a single line. The guarantee is written the same way: per location, per keyword set, per radius. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

The guides, read for a Utah pharmacy in a capped field

A field that cannot grow changes what your marketing money is for, and six of our library guides read differently here because of it. Each one takes a single Utah fact, says what it costs your till and what we do about it. The offer under all of them does not move: top three in the local pack, guaranteed on a keyword set and radius we put in writing. The guide itself is linked if you want the method first.

Budgeting when the field itself cannot grow

A capped list changes what a marketing budget is for. Growth spend assumes the category will lift you, and here it will not: no sixteenth pharmacy is opening and nobody is creating a new buyer. Share spend assumes the opposite, and share is the thing actually for sale in Utah — the buyer standing at a rival's counter this month, choosing between two search results next month. The plan that fits is unglamorous: local search first, the menu second, retention third, and one report that says what ran and what it returned. Both our plans put those on one contract, and the report is ours to write for you every month. See the guide: the dispensary marketing guide.

In a capped field, rank is the whole contest

When no new door can open and the list of rivals is set, the only variable left is which counter a buyer is shown first, and that is a ranking question rather than a real-estate one. Your position is never one number either: first in your own town, fourth across the valley, absent past that. We measure Share of Local Voice across a grid of points inside your radius instead, so your report shows where you hold and where you are quietly bleeding, and the top-three guarantee is written to that grid and its agreed keyword set. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

One pin per town, a catchment far wider than the town

Being the only counter in your town sounds like safety until you remember that the pack is drawn around the searcher, not the shop: a buyer sitting between two of Utah's pharmacy towns gets whichever pins the map ranks for her, and yours is up against counters you would never call local. Every one of those pins needs its categories right, its hours current, its photos fresh, its questions answered and its posts recent, every month. That work is the difference between the map treating you as the obvious answer and treating you as one of several, and Google Business Profile management sits inside both our plans. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

The pharmacy model puts more weight on your own site

Utah dispenses through pharmacies with a pharmacist on site, so a first-time cardholder arrives with questions a marketplace listing was never built to answer, and she asks them of whatever page she lands on. If that page is somebody else's, she is their customer rented back to you: the same format as every other counter in the state, price compared beside them, and no lever you can pull. Your own domain is the one surface where the menu, the hours, the ordering and the ranking asset all belong to you. A menu-connected site on that domain is included in both our plans, with no separate build fee. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

Cardholders who already have a favorite counter

Utah's medical program dates from the 2018 vote, so the buyer you want is not new to any of this: she holds a card, knows what she likes and remembers who had it in stock. She does not switch because somebody shouted louder; she switches when she looks once and finds you, or when the counter she used stopped giving her a reason to come back. A points or tier structure wired into your POS, kept warm by the email and SMS she has opted into, is the one asset no rival can rank away from you, because it is a relationship rather than a position. That retention layer is what separates our two plans. See the guide: the dispensary loyalty program guide.

Four invoices, split across fifteen counters

A marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer each bill you every month whether your share of Utah's fifteen counters grew or shrank, and none of the four talks to the others. In a field that cannot expand, that rented stack is most of what marketing costs you, and the seams between its pieces are where your share leaks out. What each rented piece actually costs, from dated third-party sources, is in the guide. Both our plans put the site, the ranking work, the messaging and the report on one contract, with the build included. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

Utah has only fifteen pharmacies. Is a marketing agency worth it here?

A short list makes the work matter more, not less. Nobody can open a sixteenth door to take your share and you cannot open one to grow yours, so the only thing that moves between the counters that exist is which of them a buyer is shown first when she searches. That moves every month, in both directions. We report it to you point by point across a grid inside your radius, and the top-three offer is written to that grid and its agreed keyword set, guaranteed. Terms apply.

Utah is medical only. Does that cap what marketing can do?

It caps who is shopping, not who they choose. A cardholder is already qualified, already buying and already used to one counter, which makes every one of them a buyer some pharmacy is going to lose this year. The only question is whether that pharmacy is yours or a rival's, and the answer is settled in a search result, a profile and a reason to come back. Local search, a menu-connected site, email, SMS and loyalty all sit on one contract with us, and one monthly report tells you which of them moved.

How many pharmacies are we actually up against?

Fewer than fifteen, and more than the one in your town. The list runs to fifteen counters across fourteen towns, but the pack a buyer sees is drawn around her rather than around the state, so your real competitive set is whoever ranks inside your radius. We count those on the demo call by drawing the rank grid for your trade area, and your guarantee is scoped to that grid rather than to the statewide count.

Utah runs a pharmacy model, not a dispensary model. Does your work translate?

The shopfront differs; the search does not. A Utah buyer looking for her nearest counter types the same kind of query a shopper types anywhere else, and the same three map positions answer her. What changes is the vocabulary on your pages, the questions your profile has to answer, and the fact that a pharmacist is part of what you are selling, all of which we write into the keyword set and the pages rather than pretending your market is somebody else's. Bring your address to the demo and we scope it to your own map.

What would you measure in the first ninety days?

Three things, and all of them stay yours. Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" across a grid of points inside your radius, point by point rather than as a single rank; the calls, direction requests and order starts your profile and site produce; and the movement on the keyword set we agreed in writing. Top three in the local pack on that agreed set, inside an agreed window, is the guarantee, and the monthly report is what proves you hold it. Terms apply.

Other Utah markets first, then the rest. Every market page is written to its own store count and its own map, and the guarantee is written to yours.

Where the doors are, by licensed medical cannabis pharmacies: Salt Lake City 2, Brigham City 1, Cedar City 1, Lehi 1, Murray 1, North Logan 1, Park City 1, Price 1, Provo 1, South Jordan 1, South Ogden 1, Springville 1, St. George 1, West Bountiful 1. Every number here is counted from Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF), Utah Medical Cannabis Program - "Find a pharmacy": Medical cannabis pharmacy locations table, read 2026-09-10.
