Twelve services on one contract from a cannabis marketing agency in Maryland

Two thirds of Maryland's dispensary licenses went out through a single social equity round, so the field ahead of you is young and the map is still moving. These twelve services do the two jobs that decide who gets found first and remembered longest: three to rank your store, four to build it, three to bring your shopper back, two to run the numbers, all on one contract, and the plans below show which modules each carries.

What a Maryland shopper is worth: one fixed pool, 126 licenses

Nobody in Maryland is making new cannabis buyers. The shoppers were already buying when adult-use sales opened in 2023, so a rival's good month is your bad one. Here is the size of that fight, and our move on each figure.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

Every license figure here is from the Maryland Cannabis Administration's own July 2026 data dashboard download, read on 9 September 2026: 210 licenses in total, 126 of them dispensary licenses, 123 standard and 3 micro, and 83 dispensary licenses awarded through the social equity round. Sales are the same download's market sales metrics, $3,111,805,941 cumulative through December 2025 and $710,483,498 year to date through July 2026; population is the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimate. The Administration publishes a dispensary count for every Maryland county, and the only county figures used here are its two zeros, Garrett and Talbot; neither zero is attributed to a local prohibition, because Maryland's county and municipal zoning powers were not checked at a primary source.

126 licenses. One pool of buyers.

The Maryland Cannabis Administration counted 126 dispensary licenses in July 2026, 123 standard and 3 micro, and between them they took $710,483,498 from 6,263,220 residents in the seven months to July. So your next sale comes off a rival's till, the moment a shopper searches and taps one of the three pins the map shows first, and putting your pin in that three, for a keyword set and radius we agree in writing, is what we guarantee.

Two thirds of the field is new.

Of those 126 licenses, 83 are social equity licenses from the dedicated round the Cannabis Reform Act created, so most of the field you are ranking against is young, and very little of it sits on years of authority. That makes a top-three position in your radius cheaper now than it will ever be again. Taking it for you, profile first, then pages, then citations, is the first work we start.

210 licenses in the chain. One tier sells.

That July count runs to 210 licenses across the whole chain, with 30 processor, 27 grower, 23 ancillary and 4 independent testing laboratory licenses behind the dispensary tier, so everything grown and processed here reaches a shopper through the same narrow row of retail licenses you hold one of. Your fight is narrower still: the pack is drawn around the shopper who is searching, not around the state, so what decides your month is the pins inside your own trade area. We draw that grid with you, report your rank across it monthly, and write the guarantee to that keyword set and radius, not to the state line.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Two thirds of Maryland's dispensary licenses came out of the state's own social equity round and they are dividing a market that took $710.5m in the seven months to July, so the shopper you want is already somebody's regular, and renting the map, the menu and the messaging from four vendors who never speak to each other is the most expensive way there is to win her back.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

Cutting the program to your Maryland doors

The twelve services above do not change from one market to the next; what changes for you is the scope, and in Maryland the scope is a county line and a trade area, never the state. Your keyword set, your radius, your pin count and the shape of the report we write you are drawn to where your shoppers actually come from, and your top-three guarantee is written to that same scope.

The license tiers the Administration publishes here are grower, processor, dispensary, testing laboratory and ancillary, with no separate delivery category, so there is no honest statewide delivery figure to write a block around. If you deliver, bring that side of the business to the demo call and the service-area grid is scoped to the routes you actually run.

If you run one dispensary.

Maryland licenses a micro tier as well as a standard one, 3 micro dispensary licenses against 123 standard, and the map does not care which you hold: both are shown to the same shopper for the same three positions. We scope the work to that map rather than to the state, with your own keyword set, your own Google Business Profile, your own citation set, and a rank grid across the radius your shoppers actually travel, Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. Two thirds of the licenses here came out of one social equity round, so the rivals around you are not defending a decade of rank. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If you run several.

Two of your doors can sit inside the same county line and still contest two entirely different maps, because the pack a shopper is shown is built around where she is standing rather than around a boundary, and here the same license serves her whether she came in on a medical card or not. The program mirrors that shape: one SGEN domain with a store selector, one page and one Google Business Profile per location, one citation set per address, and a roll-up report with a row per location, so a door holding share and one quietly losing it are never averaged into one line. Yours is written per location, per keyword set, per radius. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

The guides, read for a Maryland store in a young field

Six things you are up against in Maryland, what each one costs you, and what we do about it under a written top-three local ranking guarantee scoped to your keyword set and radius. Each one hangs a guide's method on one Maryland fact, and the guide is linked if you want the method before the call.

Nobody here has owned the map for a decade

Adult-use selling started in Maryland on 1 July 2023, and two thirds of the state's dispensary licenses came out of the social equity round that followed, so the rivals ahead of you in the pack are not sitting on ten years of accumulated authority: two thirds of that field is younger than the Act itself. That makes a position cheaper to take now than it will be next year, and dearer every month you leave it, because the field keeps working while you decide. Dispensary SEO is the order we take it in for you, the profile first, then the pages your shoppers actually type, then citations that match everywhere. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

Two counties have none, and yours is not one of them

The Administration publishes a dispensary count for every county in Maryland, and only Garrett and Talbot show a zero; everywhere else a shopper who opens the map is offered three pins, and they are picked from whoever is nearest, open and answering. In a field that tight your profile settles it, because a wrong primary category, last summer's hours or a question nobody replied to hands the tap to whichever rival keeps theirs current. Working yours every month, categories, hours, posts, replies and the menu link, is the cheapest way to hold your three, and it is in both of our plans. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

Read the Maryland sign rules as a buying spec

Nothing that targets or attracts minors, no cartoon characters, a therapeutic claim only with the three statements the Administration specifies, and no sign within 500 feet of a school, playground, library, park, recreation center, child care home or treatment facility. Read as a warning that is a headache; read as a buying spec it tells you where your money cannot go before you spend it, and where it can instead: the map, your own site and the list you own, none of which a setback touches. We build to that spec, the neutral age-screen included, and run those three surfaces for you on one contract. See the guide: dispensary advertising rules by state.

Your age-screen is the front door, so own the room behind it

Maryland asks a dispensary website to put a neutral age-screen in front of the products, which means the first thing every shopper you win from the map meets is a gate, and behind that gate sits either your own menu or somebody else's. On a marketplace you appear in the same template as every rival in your county, sorted by whoever discounted hardest that week, and the shopper who orders there belongs to the marketplace; you rent her back next month. A menu-connected site on your own domain keeps the order and keeps her, and the build is in both of our plans with no separate build fee. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

One counter, two buyers, one list you own

The same Maryland businesses serve medical patients and adult-use shoppers across one counter, and the two behave nothing alike: the patient comes back on a schedule, the adult shopper comes back when something reminds her. The map cannot tell them apart. Your own list can, and it is the one asset no rival can outrank you for, because it is a relationship rather than a position. Segmented email, written to what each half of your counter actually buys and sent on a rhythm your staff do not have to remember, is what turns a first visit into a fourth, and it runs on the same contract as everything else we do for you. See the guide: the dispensary email marketing playbook.

Four invoices that do not care how your year went

Maryland's dispensaries took $710,483,498 in the first seven months of the year, and a marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer each bill you the same whether your share of that went up or down. None of the four talks to the others, so you pay four times to hold three surfaces, and every hour your staff spend copying a menu between them is an hour nobody spent on the map. What each rented piece costs, from dated third-party sources, is in the guide; both of our plans put the site, the ranking work and the reporting on one contract, with the web build included. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

Two thirds of Maryland's dispensary licenses are social equity licenses. Does that change how you would market my store?

It changes what is winnable. 83 of the 126 dispensary licenses came out of the round the Cannabis Reform Act created, so the field you are ranking against is young and very little of it has a decade of authority behind it. That is the cheapest a top-three position in your radius will ever be, and it is exactly what we sell: an agreed keyword set, an agreed radius, a rank grid we report on monthly, and a written top-three local ranking guarantee scoped to that agreement. Terms apply.

How many dispensaries am I actually competing with in Maryland?

Far fewer than the statewide license count suggests. The Administration publishes a dispensary count for every Maryland county, but even your own county's figure overstates your fight, because the local pack is drawn around the shopper who is searching, so what matters is the handful of pins inside your own radius. We count them with you on the demo call by drawing the rank grid for your trade area, and the guarantee is scoped to that grid rather than to the state.

Maryland limits where our signs can go and what our website must show. Where does the budget go instead?

Onto the three surfaces a setback cannot touch: the map, your own site and the list you own. No sign may sit within 500 feet of a school, playground, library, park or treatment facility, your website needs a neutral age-screen and your social accounts have to say 18+ to view, so the money that would have gone on signage goes into the profile, the pages and the retention work instead. We report every month on what each of the three returned.

The market has already taken more than $3 billion. Is there still room to grow?

Not in the way that phrase usually means. Nobody here is making new cannabis buyers: the $3,111,805,941 taken through December 2025 came from people who were already buying, and this year's $710,483,498 is being divided between the same license holders. Your growth is somebody else's loss, which is why we sell rank rather than reach, and report it to you point by point across your own trade area every month.

We serve medical patients and adult-use shoppers from one counter. Do you market to them differently?

Yes, because they arrive differently. The adult-use shopper is won on the map, by your pin being one of the three she is shown; the patient is kept by a relationship, a points or tier structure in your POS with the email and SMS that keep it warm. Both run on one contract and land in one report, so you can see which half of your counter is growing and which is quietly leaking to a rival. The keyword set, the radius and the window go into the agreement, and on that agreed set the offer is top three in the local pack, guaranteed. Terms apply, and we walk you through them on the demo call before you sign.
