Every surface a patient touches, from one cannabis marketing agency in Alabama

In a market this young the dispensary that gets found first sets the habit, and habits are expensive to break later. These twelve do that work for yours: three to rank it, four to build it, three to keep its patients coming back, two to run the numbers, all on one contract, and the plans below show which modules each one carries.

Two doors open, twelve licensed: the Alabama fight before it starts

Nobody markets a new patient into existence here; a qualifying condition does that, and then she picks a door. Two doors are open, twelve are licensed, and the program is reported to reach thirty-seven, so every patient you hold is one a later arrival must take off you.

Above, four clients’ day zero against the month, in Share of Local Voice: the share of the local pack a store holds for "Dispensary Near Me" across its trade area.

The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission licensed the dispensaries and named their retail cities, and the advertising rule described above is its Administrative Code r. 538-X-4-.17; the round-one total of twelve and the reported expansion to thirty-seven are trade reporting rather than a Commission publication. The Montgomery opening on 4 June 2026 and the Talladega opening on 8 September 2026 are contemporaneous news reports. Population is the US Census Bureau's Vintage 2024 estimate. All were read on 9 September 2026. No patient count, no sales figure and no city or county store count appears here, because none could be verified against a published Alabama record.

The whole retail channel is two dispensaries.

A Montgomery dispensary has traded since June and a Talladega one since September, out of twelve licensed across four companies. So the map is cheaper to take this year than it will ever be again, and that ends the morning a rival opens nearby. Putting your pin in the three the map shows first, for an agreed keyword set and radius, is what we guarantee.

5,157,699 residents. One fixed list of buyers.

Only a qualifying patient may buy here, so the pool you sell into is fixed: you cannot grow it by shouting louder, only take a bigger share of it. That list already knows where the doors are. Montgomery and Talladega are trading, sites are named for Athens, Attalla, Birmingham, Cullman, Daphne, Mobile and Oxford, and a fourth license for Birmingham, Demopolis and Owens Cross Roads is stayed. When a patient searches in your city and finds someone else, that order was yours. We build the site, the profile and the city pages that make yours the one she finds.

Your name and your logo are a submission here.

In Alabama the Commission must see a name, a logo and campaign materials before they are used, and it can require changes or refuse them. So a brand you have not cleared is a brand you cannot run, and every week it waits is a week your rivals are trading and you are invisible. We design the identity, the packaging and the launch campaign as one submitted package, and we start the ranking work on the name you already have.

Why a dispensary marketing agency should own the stack

Most dispensaries rent their marketing from four vendors and hope the pieces talk to each other. They rarely do.

Twelve dispensaries were licensed in Alabama's first round, two of them are open, and the patients allowed to buy from them are a fixed list drawn from 5,157,699 residents, so the cheapest year you will ever have to own your map is this one, and renting that year from four separate vendors is the expensive way to buy it.

You know the rules you sell under better than any agency does, so this page does not restate them. If you want the references, both are in the library: dispensary advertising rules by state and cannabis marketing compliance.

Your stack is rented from four vendors.

A marketplace listing, a menu vendor, a loyalty or SMS tool and a generic retainer, each with its own login. Fix: one platform (SGEN) and one agency, with the site, the menu and the campaigns in one place.

Local SEO is an upsell tier elsewhere.

The work that puts you in the local pack for "Dispensary Near Me" is often gated behind the top plan. Fix: ranking work is included from the first dollar. Localized on-page SEO, 100+ off-page profiles and Google Business Profile management are in both plans.

Menu traffic leaks to marketplaces.

A shopper who finds your store on a third-party listing is that listing’s customer. Fix: menu-connected SGEN sites keep the order on your domain, with staff updating the menu themselves.

Four invoices, four account managers.

Nobody owns the result. Fix: one point of contact, one monthly report showing what ran, what it cost and what it returned.

What is included

Web design and development are included — no separate build fee.

Local SEO, menu-connected websites, email, SMS and loyalty under one contract.

The number we manage to

New Frontier Data (2026-06-21) put one operator’s cost per new customer at about $23. So we manage the channel that costs the least per visit: the local pack.

Our currency is Share of Local Voice (SoLV) for "Dispensary Near Me" — the share of local-pack visibility your store holds for that search across its trade area, reported with its window and case page.

Local search rank grid, before and after: red rank 20 plus pins on the left, green rank 1 pins on the right.

Your Alabama license, and the program that fits it

The twelve services above are the same in every market; what changes for you here is that you are early, and early has a shelf life. Two of the twelve dispensaries licensed in round one are trading, so the scope we write is built to hold a position you take now against companies that have not opened yet: your keyword set, your radius, your pin count and your monthly report, with the top-three guarantee written to that same scope.

No delivery block appears here because Alabama's program gives us no delivery fact to write one from. If your license changes that, bring it to the demo call and we will scope the service-area grid to it.

If you run one dispensary.

You are the only door on your own street, and that is worth money only while patients can find it. So the work is scoped to the map your dispensary actually sits on: your own keyword set, your own Google Business Profile, your own city page, and a rank grid across the radius your patients travel from, with Share of Local Voice for "Dispensary Near Me" reported point by point every month. When the next license opens nearby, you will already know which points you hold and which you have to defend, and so will we. See marketing for the single-location dispensary.

If your license covers several cities.

Round one licensed twelve dispensaries across four companies, in cities from Athens to Mobile, so your problem is not one map but several, in places that share nothing except your brand. We mirror that shape: one SGEN domain with a location selector, a page and a Google Business Profile per address, a citation set per address, and a roll-up report with a row per site, so a location holding its position and one quietly losing it never average into the same line. The guarantee is written the same way, per site, per keyword set, per radius, never as one number for the group. See marketing for multi-location dispensaries and MSOs.

The playbook for an Alabama dispensary with a head start

Being early in Alabama is an advantage with a shelf life: it lasts until the next door opens down the road. These six guides each take one fact from this market and turn it into something you can act on this quarter, ending in what it costs you and what we do about it. The offer behind them does not move: top three in the local pack, guaranteed against an agreed keyword set, radius and window. The guide itself is linked if you want the method before the call.

A pin you take now costs a fraction of one you take later

Outside Montgomery and Talladega nothing is trading yet, so in most Alabama cities there is not yet another dispensary profile competing for the patient you want. That will not last: sites are named for Athens, Attalla, Cullman, Daphne, Mobile and Oxford, and each one arrives with a profile of its own. A profile you complete, category by category, with hours, products, photos and posts kept current, is cheap to hold and expensive for a newcomer to displace. We build and run yours now, so the pin is yours before anyone turns up to argue about it. See the guide: Google Business Profile for dispensaries.

Rankings take months, and months are what you have

Ranking work is slow in every market, which is usually the argument against starting. In Alabama it is the argument for starting today: only two of the twelve dispensaries licensed in round one have opened, and rankings earned in a quiet market cost you far less than rankings taken off an incumbent two years from now. The order of operations is fixed, the site structure, then the city pages, then the profile and the citations, then the content, and doing it out of order wastes the year. We run it in that order for you, starting with the build. See the guide: the dispensary SEO guide.

Your site is doing the explaining

A patient who qualified last month has never walked into a dispensary, does not know what the program actually lets her buy, and will not phone to ask. In an older market the category does that teaching; in Alabama your site has to, which makes it the hardest-working thing you own. Ours are built menu-connected, so what she reads is what is on the shelf, with the eligibility questions, the hours and the ordering path where she looks for them rather than three clicks in. That build is included in both plans, and it is where the ranking work has to start anyway. See the guide: the dispensary website design guide.

The one asset a new rival cannot rank away from you

Every position you hold today is contestable the day a competitor opens with a budget and a launch offer. A patient who is on your list, has points on her account and gets your text on refill day is not. Medical buyers repeat by definition, because the condition does not go away, so the value of a first visit is the second, the third and the thirtieth. Wiring a points or tier structure into your point of sale now, with the email and SMS that keep it warm, is the cheapest retention you will ever buy, and it is the layer that separates our two plans. See the guide: the dispensary loyalty program guide.

A market that rewards planning and punishes improvising

Because your name, your logo and your campaign materials go to the Commission before they run, the expensive mistake in Alabama is the last-minute one: a promotion you invented on Thursday is not a promotion you can run on Friday. An agency that improvises will burn your calendar in that queue. So we work to a dated plan a quarter out, the campaign, the creative and the disclosures produced together and submitted together, while the map work, the site and the email and SMS list you own carry the weeks in between. See the guide: dispensary advertising rules by state.

Four invoices, before you have taken a single order

A marketplace listing, a menu tool, a texting platform and an agency retainer each start billing you the month you sign, and in a market where your revenue starts at zero that rented stack is at its most expensive against the till it is meant to fill. None of the four talks to the others, so you pay again in the time you spend reconciling them. What each piece actually costs, from dated third-party sources, is set out in the guide; our two plans put the site, the ranking work and the reporting on one contract, with the build included and no separate build fee. See the guide: what dispensary marketing costs.

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee rankings?

A written top-3 local ranking guarantee — Dispenza’s own offer; the keywords, radius and time window are set in your agreement (see terms). Terms apply. Ask for the guarantee terms on your demo call before you sign anything. The guarantee covers the local keyword set agreed for your trade area, over a defined window.

Which platform are the sites built on?

Built on SGEN — the platform every one of Dispenza’s 500+ dispensary sites runs on. SGEN is Dispenza’s in-house website platform, so the team that hosts your site is the team running your campaigns. Menu-connected sites are built to be updated by staff.

What does it cost?

Pricing is scoped to your locations and both plans above list every module in full, with the site build included and no separate build fee. A quote for your store count takes one demo call. See how pricing works.

Only two dispensaries are open in Alabama. Is it too early to spend on marketing?

It is the cheapest this market will ever be. Twelve dispensaries are licensed in round one and the program is reported to reach thirty-seven, so the map you can take today for a monthly fee is the same map you would be buying back off an incumbent in two years. We would start with the site and the Google Business Profile, because both take weeks to settle and neither cares that your competitors have not opened yet.

The Commission has to clear our name and our logo. Can you work inside that?

Yes, and we would rather design into it than around it. We produce the identity, the packaging and the campaign as one submitted package with the disclosures already in place, so you answer the Commission once rather than three times. While that clears, the work that does not wait is already running: your site, your city pages, your profile and your citations. That is also why the top-three guarantee is written to a keyword set and a radius rather than to a launch date. Terms apply.

We hold licenses for sites in three Alabama cities. Do we need three of everything?

Three of some of it. One SGEN site carries all three, with a page and a Google Business Profile per address and a citation set per address, because a patient in Mobile never sees a Cullman pin. The strategy, the reporting and the contract stay single; the local assets cannot. Your roll-up report then carries a row per site, so the location that is winning never hides the one that is not.

Alabama is medical only. Does local search really matter for patients?

More, not less. A patient who has just qualified is looking for her first dispensary and has no habit to fall back on, so the first search she runs decides where her first ten purchases go. That search is local: she types her town with the product, or lets Google supply the town, and three pins answer her. Getting yours into those three, on the keyword set and radius we agree, is the thing we guarantee, and it is what your monthly report is measured against. Terms apply, and we walk you through them before you sign.

How do you rank for a phrase nobody in my city is searching yet?

By building for the search that is coming, and by not chasing volume you do not have. We do not scope a new market off phrase counts, so we work the terms that convert rather than the ones that look big: your town plus dispensary, the product names on your shelf, and the questions a newly qualified patient asks. Those pages and that profile age while the volume arrives, and your monthly report shows you the month it does.

Book straight into the calendar. Bring your store count and your address; you leave the call with a quote scoped to your locations and the guarantee terms to read before you sign.

More markets

The same program, market by market

Every market page is written to its own store count and its own map, and the guarantee is written to yours.

Where the doors are, by licensed dispensing sites (AMCC's own term: "Facility Type: Dispensing Site") recorded on the three ISSUED, currently-valid AMCC Dispensary licences. 2 of the 9 are open to patients as of 2026-09-10; the other 7 are licensed but not yet open. Alabama is medical-only - there is no adult-use retail.: Athens 1, Attalla 1, Bessemer 1, Birmingham 1, Daphne 1, Mobile 1, Montgomery 1, Oxford 1, Talladega 1. Every number here is counted from Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) - Applicant/Licensee Summary Information, License Category: Dispensary (PDF, 'Updated: July 16, 2026'), cross-checked against the AMCC Patients & Caregivers dispensary-opening announcements, read 2026-09-10. If your city is on that list, the fight for its map is already running.
